Our Story
Skape, derived from the Scandinavian word for 'create' or 'shape,' was founded by Kaiwen Yang in 2020 as a small studio with a big vision: to revitalize under-represented cultures in Canada using innovative technology. Our initial project, a virtual reality museum dedicated to the black community in Vancouver, was crafted to preserve and celebrate a rich heritage. This project marked our first step towards making meaningful cultural contributions through innovative technology.
Our success in the Fulbright Canada program further propelled our mission, helping to reunite society post-COVID with virtual experiences that bridged our distances and fostered community engagement. As our reputation grew, so did our portfolio. We expanded our services to include design solutions and UX consultancy, supporting a diverse range of organizations and entities in achieving their aspirations.

Kaiwen Yang
Kaiwen Yang, MDes, is an accomplished VR designer and senior UX researcher. He founded Skape Innovations Inc. in 2020 to merge his expertise in digital design with his passion for art and cultural revitalization through innovative technology.
