TEDxEmilyCarrU — Communication and Co-Curation

ree

During his volunteering work as Communication and Co-Curation Lead for TEDxEmilyCarrU (2021–2022), Kaiwen Yang shaped the event’s intellectual direction and public narrative, curating talks that explored the intersection of creativity, technology, and human experience.

He worked closely with speakers to refine their ideas into compelling, structured narratives that balanced emotional resonance with conceptual clarity. His guidance extended from content strategy and speaker development to the orchestration of the event’s broader storytelling rhythm — ensuring that each talk contributed to a coherent and memorable experience.

Beyond curatorial duties, Kaiwen directed communication and branding efforts, aligning the event’s visual and verbal identity with TED’s global standard of ideas worth spreading. The result was a well-executed and deeply engaging public program that highlighted Vancouver’s emerging voices in art, design, and innovation.

The experience reinforced Kaiwen’s philosophy that powerful design begins with powerful communication — a principle that continues to shape his leadership at Skape Innovations today.
