Hogan's Alley Cultural Centre

In a groundbreaking project in collaboration with the Hogan's Alley Society and local black leaders, we created the Hogan's Alley VR Cultural Center. This virtual space is dedicated to preserving and celebrating the rich history of Vancouver's historical black neighborhood, Hogan's Alley, which was dispersed during urban renewal efforts in the mid-20th century.

Despite the absence of a concentrated black community in Vancouver today—a rarity for a major North American city—the need to acknowledge and learn from this part of our history remains vital. The VR cultural center we developed serves as a dynamic educational tool, allowing users to explore the neighborhood's vibrant past and honor the legacy of its residents through immersive virtual reality experiences.

After several prototypes, our final product offers a deeply engaging and respectful tribute to the black community's contributions to Vancouver. The center not only educates about the past but also fosters a sense of community and understanding among all who visit.
